Childhood Favorite: Egg in The Hole

Good morning!

Today’s breakfast featured something I loved as a child: Egg in The Hole (Oeuf dans l’trou).
I loved making these myself when I was an older child! Making the hole was, of course, my favorite part!

Egg in The Hole

Print recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 slice bread
  • 1 egg
  • Salt, pepper to taste

Directions: Grease a skillet (I use coconut oil) and put over medium heat. Make a yolk-sized hole in the middle of the bread slice. You can use a round biscuit cutter but using your fingers is more fun!
Put the bread slice on the skillet and reduce heat to medium-low. Crack the egg into the hole. Sprinkle salt and pepper on the egg. After 1-2 minutes, flip with a spatula. Cook for 30 secs to 1 minute and serve.

Makes 1 serving

Exactly the same as eating eggs & bread, only they come together ;).

What was one of your favorite breakfast as a child?
