Peachy White Sangria

by Charlie on June 28, 2011

There is something about sangria.
It is good.

Sangria is also perfect for a party; it is easier to make a pitcher than a glass. And it looks great. And I never met someone who doesn’t like sangria. How can you go wrong with wine and fruit?

So when I organized a party this weekend, Sangria was the first thing on my list. I never made Sangria before but there was something I decided to do 3 years ago for the day I was going to make some. I was on a dinner cruise and when I asked for sangria, I saw the bartender add a tiny bit of Peach Schnapps. My favorite liquor. In Sangria. This is genius!

Of course, I added a little more than a tiny bit. And I decided to make white sangria since it makes me think of summer. And it’s been summer for a couple days now!

Peachy White Sangria

Ingredients:

  • 2 bottles (750 ml each) dry white wine (I used ViƱa Sol)
  • 1 cup Peach Schnapps
  • 1/4 cup cane sugar
  • 1 can (19 oz) pineapple chunks with juice
  • 2 small oranges, sliced and quartered
  • 1 cup frozen peach wedges
  • 1 cup club soda

Directions: In a large pitcher or punch bowl, add everything except the club soda and stir to dissolve the sugar. Cover and let stand at room temperature for 5-10 hours. When ready to serve, add club soda. Serve on ice.

This sangria was delicious. You can taste the peach schnapps but it doesn’t overpower the other flavors! And there is lots of fruit to eat after drinking your glass, got to love that ;-) .

I've been eyeing this post for days but only just now had time to comment. I am having some girlfriends over for drinks on Saturday night and I think I know what I am serving!
