Fitness Friday: My First Yoga Class

Only 10 days left!
Enter the Chocolate Chip Cookie Challenge!

Good evening!

This Wednesday night, I had my first yoga class. It began with a stressful event implying my gym subscribing me to the WRONG class. They subscribed me for the class on Monday instead of Wednesday but they finally let me go to my class.

I loved this class. So relaxing yet challenging. 3/4 of the class has never done yoga before (like me) so it is the perfect class to begin with before paying for a real (expensive) yoga studio.

I loved these poses…

Child’s Pose (source)
Cobra Pose (source)
Warrior II Pose (source)

And my favorite part was…
Sun salutation!

I definitely didn’t get it right but it was fun. The teacher is going to stick to the same routine all session (10 classes), while making the poses a little more challenging. That way, we can learn to do all the poses she shows us correctly!
And I was (really) sore the next day!

Can’t wait until next class!

Refreshing Date & Orange Couscous Salad

Yey!! I am so excited you got to a yoga class!! I love sun salutes! I miss doing them! Yoga can be very challenging, but I started to finally build up a lot of the poses before I got pregnant. It really feels great after a session!!!!

I hated yoga the first time I went. Somehow, I convinced myself to go back and then I loved it… It does amazing things for my mind and body!

I am going to try yoga tonight! I hope to be sore tomorrow although my back is killing me so I hope it stretches that out a bit!

Yoga is amazing. It really brought me to have a different relationship with my body, to appreciate it more and listen to it. And those breathing exercises do wonders for stressful situations. If you are into becoming a "yogi" I would suggest Yoga Journal, they have wonderful insightful articles & recipes.
