London Fog Latte (a.k.a. Earl Grey Tea Latte)

Good morning!

I often go to cafes to study. There is one place I go to that used to pose me a problem: I don’t like their coffee, and I don’t like their (too sweet) hot chocolate. Remove hot chocolate and espresso beverages from a cafe menu and there is not a lot of hot drinks left.

I love their apple cider and tea but once I got there and really wanted a latte. So I decided to have a tea latte.

I tried Starbucks London Fog (Earl Grey tea brewed in milk with vanilla syrup) a while ago and wasn’t impressed, but I decided to try theirs, with half syrup (tried it at Starbucks again and wasn’t impressed again).
One word: delicious. I crave these all the time. The solution? Make my own, of course.

London Fog Latte

Print recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups hot milk
  • 1 Earl Grey tea pouch
  • 1/2 tbsp unrefined cane sugar
  • 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract

Directions: With a whisk or immersion blender, mix milk, sugar and vanilla. Place tea pouch in a cup and pour milk. Let brew for 5-6 minutes before removing pouch.

Makes 1 serving

Usually, when I recreate flavored lattes (Pumpkin Spice Latte, Gingerbread Latte), they are delicious but different from those made from Starbucks. Not using artificial syrup is to blame.

This time, it actually tasted exactly like the one I usually buy! There is probably a little difference, but I couldn’t detect it :). And no artificial syrup = bonus to a delicious treat!

Confession: I Love Peppermint Chocolate
Lemon & Broccoli Risotto

I love this idea!! I also get a chia or green tea latte, and could not for the life of me figure out how to make them at home lol Do you use almond milk? That is what I have been trying to use, but I never tried it your way. I am going to give it a try later. Thanks!

London Fog Latte. Now I ain't heard of that one. Don't know if they sell that in the Starbucks in Scotland? 🙂 Maybe they do, I haven't been in a Starbucks for 4 years now. I started finding their lattes just tasting watery and watery each time. I do like the sound of your recreations and should I ever pick up some Earl Grey Teabags, I will be giving it a go, along with the pumpkin and ginger! The ginger latte is calling out to me.

I think I need an immersion blender! It would make things a lot more fun 🙂

I just love the name of this one! Bet it's a great pick me up in the morning. Or for the 3pm afternoon slump!
